Doyon Universal Services (DUS) requires applicants to complete an online application to be considered for a position. The first step is to create a “Talent Bank Profile”, after which you can apply for any jobs you are qualified. Below are the steps involved in applying for a position.
Create an email address
You will need an email address to create a Talent Bank profile. You can establish a free email address at any of the following websites:
Create an electronic resume
Your resume is a professional document describing your education, work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or competencies. An “electronic” resume is a document saved on your computer for future use. When creating your resume, follow these general guidelines:
- Use proper English, and pay attention to grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, formatting and spacing.
- Your resume should include information explaining how you meet the minimum qualifications for the position.
- Search “sample resume” on the internet to find a resume template to assist you in creating your electronic resume.
Your resume should include the following sections:
- Professional Highlights (shows the total number of years of experience you have in each area). Examples are: 10 years of commercial cooking experience, five years of remote worksite experience
- Education (graduation date, degree, institution name, city and state)
- Work History (name of company, job title, detailed paragraph explaining your duties and responsibilities, reason for leaving position)
- Skills (examples are: ability to work with difficult customers, good negotiation skills, etc.)
- Certificates and licenses (any current and relevant licenses of certifications you have. Examples are: ServSafe certificate, food handler’s card, etc.)
Once you have completed your electronic resume, save it on a computer and/or a flash drive for future use.
Create a Talent Bank Profile
- Navigate to www.doyonuniversal.com
- Move your mouse over “Employment” and click “Talent Bank”
- Place your mouse over “Jobs” and click “Doyon Talent Bank”
- Read the information on the “Doyon Talent Bank” page
- Click “Doyon Talent Bank Profile”
- Open your electronic resume and copy and paste the contents of your resume into the “Resume” box
- Click “Fill In from Resume”
- Review each field to make sure they are populated with the appropriate information and, if necessary, update each field with the correct information
- Fill-in any other blank fields
- Complete the online steps until all the required information has been entered
- You will be required to enter your email address and password. It is very IMPORTANT to write this information down, so you will not forget them
- You will need your email address and password to log into the website in order to apply for a job, and also check the status of each position you applied for
- Click “Finish” on the last page of the online application
- You will receive a “Congratulations” message stating you have successfully completed your “Talent Bank Profile”
- Now you may apply for open jobs without having to upload your resume and information each time.
- Be sure to return to your Talent Bank Profile and update things like phone numbers and addresses when those things change
Apply for a job
- Navigate to www.doyonuniversal.com
- Move your mouse over “Employment” and click “Current Vacancies”. You are now seeing job vacancies for the Doyon Family of Companies. To search for Doyon Universal Services’ positions scroll down until you see Doyon Universal Services.
- Click on the job title you want to apply for to open the posting
- Carefully read the job posting
- Make sure you meet the minimum requirements for the position
- Make sure your online employment application and resume demonstrate how you meet the minimum requirements
- If you meet the minimum requirements, click “Apply On-line” at the bottom right of the job posting
- Enter your email address and password
- Answer the online questions and click “Next” at the bottom of the page
- If you have created a Talent Bank Profile, the fields should now contain the answers you provided.
- Update any information that has changed, especially phone and contact information
- Complete each page and click “Finish” when you complete the last page
- You will receive a message confirming you successfully applied for the job
If you do not have a computer available at home
If you do not have a computer, there are computers available at the public library, your local employment office or at the DUS office.
- If you are Alaska Native or American Indian, you can go to an Alaska Native non-profit agency that provides employment services, such as Cook Inlet Tribal Council, Tanana Chief’s Conference, etc
- After you apply for a job, you may login to the company website and/or check your email periodically so you are aware of your status
How to check the status of a job application
- Navigate to www.doyonuniversal.com
- Move your mouse over “Employment” and click “Talent Bank”
- Move your mouse over “JOBS” and click “Job Openings”
- Click “View Submitted Applications” in the box on the left side
- Login to the Talent Bank by entering your email address and password
- A complete list of the jobs you applied and the status for each position will be displayed
Update your profile in the Talent Bank prior to applying for another job
Keep in mind the resume you uploaded into the Talent Bank is the resume viewed by the HR Department every time you apply for a job. So, you want to make sure the resume in the Talent Bank is appropriate and geared towards the job for which you are applying. If you need to update your profile, please follow the steps below BEFORE you apply for a new job. It is very important to update your Talent Bank profile each time you change your address, telephone number etc.
- Update the electronic copy of the resume you originally submitted so it demonstrates how you meet or exceed the minimum qualifications for the position
- Navigate to www.doyonuniversal.com
- Move your mouse over “Employment” and click “Current Vacancies”
- Click “Edit Your Profile” ” in the purple box on the left side of the page
- Login by entering your email address and password
- Highlight all the contents in the resume box and click “Delete”
- Open your electronic resume and copy the contents
- Go back to the Doyon website
- Place your cursor in the Resume box
- Right mouse click and click “Paste”
- Click “Fill In from Resume”
- Review each field to make sure they have been populated with the appropriate information. If necessary, update the field with the correct information.
- Fill-in any other blank fields
- Complete the online steps until all the required information has been entered
- When you have reviewed and/or updated the page, click “Next” at the bottom of the page
- Click “Finish” on the last page of the online application
- You will receive a “Congratulations” message stating you have successfully completed your “Talent Bank Profile.”
Applicant screening:
Doyon Universal Services is a drug free workplace and successfully passing a pre-employment drug screening is required. DUS conducts full background checks on all applicants considered for a position. In addition, successfully passing post-offer, pre-employment physical and functional capacity evaluations are required for all positions. We verify your eligibility to work in the United States, your state licensing credentials, education credentials, etc.
In addition to these company requirements, some of Doyon Universal Services’ clients may have additional requirements, such as a clean driving record, character and/or personal references, additional physical fitness exams, etc.
